Chapter 192
Thaddeus stepped out from the CEO’s office and headed back to his own.
“Mr. Thaddeus! How’d it go? Your father didn’t give you a hard time, did he?” Gordon had already
prepared coffee for him, asking the question with a worried expression and a cautious tone.
Thaddeus elegantly settled down on the couch by his desk and took a sip of his coffee, his eyes filled
with gloom.
“He didn’t give me a hard time.”
Gordon exhaled in relief, his heart relaxing.
“That’s impossible.” Thaddeus continued.
Gordon’s eyes widened, his anxiety returning, “I knew it! He wouldn’t make things easy for you! He’s a
total slacker!”
“I sometimes wish he was a slacker. I wish I wasn’t his actual son
The coffee that Thaddeus had been drinking suddenly lost its rich flavor, leaving only a bitter taste,
“Unfortunately, he is indeed my father.”
“Ugh!” Gordon sighed in frustration, at a loss for words.
“Frederic has now handed the wedding project of Ada over to Glynnis.”
“What? Oh my G od!”
Gordon was shocked, cursing in disbelief, “It was your idea to use Ada’s wedding to boost the
reputation of the Abernathy Hotel. You led the team, held endless meetings, and worked day and night.
If that’s not hard work, then what is? Now, this happens. No one could’ve imagined this. Why does he
not remember all the work you’ve put in and just hands your project to someone else? This must be
that old hag Elspeth’s doing!”
“It’s not just that if Glynnis manages to pull this off, the management of Abernathy Hotel will be handed
over to her.” Thaddeus said coldly, his eyes slightly narrowed
Gordon gasped, wildly pulling at his own hair.
That old geezer Frederic, who was usually not much good at running the company, sure knew how to
deal with his son!
“So, you didn’t fight for it? Did you just let Glynnis take your project?”
“Is it necessary? Frederic and his daughter are playing the same game. From the beginning, what
Frederic wanted was to cut my power.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThaddeus looked calm and not particularly angry. He continued, “Glynnis just gave him an excuse.”
If he was going to get mad over something like this, he would’ve been dead from high blood pressure a
long time ago.
“So are we just gonna sit back and take it?” Gordon gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with resentment.
Thaddeus kept silent, just sipping his coffee.
“Mr. Thaddeus, I gotta say, I’m starting to get pretty pis sed at Mrs. Abernathy!” Gordon frowned, his
mouth puckered up like a catfish.
“You usually respect Mrs. Abernathy so much. You always seem so happy to talk about her. Have you
changed your mind about her?” Thaddeus teased him with a smirk.
That’s personal, and this is business. It’s different. I suspect Mrs. Abernathy is out for revenge. She
wants to push you into the fire pit, and she wants you dead!” Gordon was really angry this time,
speaking his mind.
“I understand her feelings. After all, I did hurt her in the past.” Thaddeus said honestly, his heart aching
a bit as he thought of the past.
“But at this rate, your position in the company could be in jeopardy!”
Gordon looked extremely worried, “She’s the darling of the Ashbourne family, with so many relatives
looking after her. Her father loves her so much, and she probably doesn’t understand your struggles. In
the Abernathy Group, you’re all alone, in a precarious position. She keeps using her family’s power to
cause trouble for you. One day you won’t be able to handle it!”
“Don’t worry, I won’t be defeated that easily.”
Thaddeus gave a faint smile, “If I was that easy to defeat, I wouldn’t be worth her deep attention, and
she wouldn’t be my wife. So this time, I have a counter-strategy.”
“Really? What is it?”
Thaddeus closed his eyes and took a moment of rest, his lips curling up slightly, showing a hint of a
gentle smile.
After a while, he said in a deep voice, “Let Evadne win thoroughly.”
Gordon looked at him in surprise, in utter disbelief.
But then, he quickly understood the deeper meaning behind Mr. Thaddeus’ words.
If they couldn’t win it all, then they would go down together with their enemy!
This time, I won’t let anyone or anything stand in her way.”
Thaddeus had originally planned to attend a senior-level meeting in the evening, but he canceled it,
drove himself to K World Hotel.
As soon as he walked into the lobby, a wave of emotions washed over him.
He remembered the first time he visited Evadne here, she made him climb the stairs and sent a double
to deal with him, leaving him empty-handed.
No woman had ever made him feel so dejected, not even those who had used and betrayed him, they
only made him feel anger.
Looking at the newly renovated hotel lobby, which was even more orderly than Abernathy Hotel,
Thaddeus gave a bitter smile.
In the past, Evadne, who was married to him, always appeared innocent and easily manipulated.
Although he never looked down on her for her “country bumpkin” background, he always felt that her
world was far removed from his, impossible to merge.

And now, he suddenly realized that it might be him who was too far away from her world. No matter
how hard he tried, he seemed unable to catch up with her
It turned out that during their three-year marriage, Evadne had given up all her pride and dignity to stay
by his side. Those were the times when he was closest to
her
The truly unreachable one, was never him.
At this moment, Jason was talking with two hotel executives and happened to spot the overly
conspicuous Thaddeus standing in the hotel lobby.
His expression faltered, and then turned gloomy.
“That’s it, you guys go ahead with your work.”
“Yeah, Mr. Jason”
After two executives left, Jason put on a frosty face, striding over to Thaddeus.
“Mr. Thaddeus, the restaurant is on the left, the bar on the right, and the cafe is upstairs. If you need a
room, go find a bellhop at the front desk.”
“I want to see Ms. Evadne, Thaddeus said bluntly, his handsome face expressionless. He just casually
looked around.
“And you think you can just waltz right in and see Ms. Evadne?” Jason scoffed, his eyes filled with
hostility.
If this wasn’t a public place, he would have kicked him out already!
“Whatever you say doesn’t matter. I must see Ms. Evadne today.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBefore, Thaddeus would have just walked away after being humiliated, but this time he played dumb
just to stay.
He figured, getting scolded wouldn’t kill him, but if he didn’t see Evadne, he probably wouldn’t sleep a
wink tonight.
Thaddeus, Ms. Evadne doesn’t want to see you. Your presence would just ruin her day.”
Jason glared at the man, teeth clenched. His voice was icy. “You should leave now. As long as I’m
here, you won’t see Ms. Evadne.”
‘I’ll leave, but only if Evadne comes and tells me herself.”
His eyes were steely, not a hint of compromise, “You can’t speak for her.”
“Thaddeus! Are you trying to pick a fight?”
Jason’s face turned red with anger, but before he could retort, a clear voice sounded from behind.
That voice was like a dagger, stabbing Thaddeus right in the heart.
“Mr. Jason, is Evadne still busy?”
Thaddeus turned around coldly, seeing the graceful Avery sauntering over.
Two good-looking men stood side by side in front of Jason. Even though they didn’t glance at each
other, Jason could feel the tension in the air.
The hotel lobby was about to turn into a battlefield!
Jason cursed under his breath. he thought Mr. Avery was a pain in the a ss!
At this moment, he wished he could lock these two up together and let them duke it out!
“Mr. Avery, in public, especially in a hotel managed by Ms. Evadne, you should address her as Ms.
Evadne,” Jason said coldly, not treating Avery any better than Thaddeus.
Thaddeus smirked, finding the secretary more tolerable than before.
“Fine, is Ms. Evadne still busy? When will she finish work tonight?”
Avery didn’t flinch. He was indeed a flexible man, “I’d like to invite Ms. Evadne for dinner, as a thank
you for getting my mother Christina’s autographed record.”
“Don’t know.” Jason’s response was for both Avery and Thaddeus.
“I can wait.”
Thaddeus and Avery, shockingly, spoke in unison!
They glanced at each other and quickly looked away in disgust.
They thought, “Just my luck!”
“Don’t bother waiting. Even if you guys camp out here tonight, Ms. Evadne won’t see you.”
As soon as Jason finished speaking, a strict but pleasant voice came from his Bluetooth earpiece,
“Jason, what the hell is going on in the lobby?”
