Elspeth’s heart pounded, “What are you trying to do?”

“I’ve lost everything. Thaddeus despises me, I have nothing left to fear!”

Acacia’s face twisted into a snarl, a glimmer of desperation in her eyes as she threatened Elspeth, “If

you won’t help me, I’ll have no choice but to spill the beans about everything you’ve made me do to Mr.

Frederic. From when I was little and you made me get close to Thaddeus, to spreading rumors that led
