Chapter 155~ A father's guilt It didn't take long for the news of Celeste's arrest to spread through the city like a forest fire.
At the Williams' mansion, David looked at his wife and instructed, "Celine, pack what you can, we have to leave, now." Celine's eyes widened. She asked, "Why do we have to leave?" David walked to the window and peeped through the curtains, fear evident in his eyes. "The police will be here soon. We have to leave before they come. Celeste has been arrested. I know we are next." "W-What?" Celine's voice trembled. "So, we are screwed? Where will we go? We sold everything to acquire the Kingsley group." David ran a hand through his hair, frustration coursing through him. He said, "We can leave the country with the cash I have right now. I can buy a house somewhere far where no one knows us." "What about Ivy? Are we never going to see her again?" Celine asked worriedly.
"Do you want to join her in jail?" David questioned. "Hurry, we need to leave now. That foolish Celeste got us into trouble. I shouldn't have trusted her." Celine pursed her lips into a thin line. She wasn't for the idea of escaping by themselves whilst their daughter was in prison. However, she couldn't defy her husband.

David cout of the car and took one briefcase that was full of money. He approached one of the police officers and said, "Hey... we are all human beings here. Let's be kind to one another." Extending the briefcase to the police officer, David remarked, "Can you pretend that you didn't see us? Here is a small token of appreciation." The officer glanced at the briefcase and asked, "Are you trying to bribe an officer of the law?" David chuckled awkwardly and replied, "This is not a bribe, officer. It's a gift." "Well, you keep your gift well. You might need it where you're going. I'm adding trying to bribe a police officer to your crimes," the officer said and placed handcuffs around David's wrists.
As he dragged him to the car, the officer uttered, "Mr Williams, money doesn't solve everything. You committed crimes and you must pay for them. It's sad. The whole Williams family will rot in jail." A little while later, Celine Williams was taken to the female prison while David was taken to the male prison. Ivy's heart dropped when she saw her mother being thrown into the cell she was being held in.
She rushed towards her and exclaimed, "Mom, why are you here? How could you get caught? Have you already taught Ryan a lesson? Is Lora that bitch defeated?" Celine glanced at her daughter and tears filled her eyes. She raised her hand and cupped Ivy's face, saying, "I'm sorry, my daughter. I didn't raise you well. It's my fault that you have such a terrible ending. From now on, I'll accompany you here. Let us pay for our crimes together." "So, you failed?" Ivy yelled. "No! This can't be! I was supposed to have my revenge! Ryan and Lora were supposed to have the most miserable life ever! Why is itwho ends up being punished instead?" "I have to destroy those two! I have to finish them! They can't be happy in this lifetime, never!" Ivy bechysterical. She couldn't understand why she and her family had to suffer while Lora and Ryan still had each other. Ryan may have been dying, but he still had the woman he loved by his side, so, in a way, he was still happy.
However, that was not the case for Ivy. She would always be a bitter, miserable woman.
Meanwhile, Miles stood outside Ryan's ward, looking at him through the glass.
Ryan was sleeping, so he didn't know that his father was watching him.
Miles sighed, guilt twisting his stomach. He really felt bad when he found out that Celeste was trying to kill Ryan for her selfish gain.

"Do you want to go in?" A soft female voice brought Miles back to the present.
He glanced sideways and found Lora looking at him with a warm smile on her face. Shaking his head, he said, "I don't want to disturb him. I just m wanted to watch him from afar. Besides, after finding out what Celeste had done, I doubt he would want to see me." "That's not true. He would be happy to see you," Lora replied. "Ryan doesn't blyou for Celeste's selfish actions. It's not like you knew... she was too good at pretending." "I honestly thought she was kind and Ryan was the one who caused trouble for her. Little did I know, she wanted my son gone. I would have caused my son's death without even knowing," Miles remarked, his eyes blurring with tears. "It's my fault for marrying that woman thinking my kids needed a mother." Lora sighed. She said, "Don't say that... if you didn't marry her, you wouldn't have had two more children.'m sure all your children et are precious to you. Isabella and Jason were just being used by Celeste... however, I think with her out of the way, the family will be happy for once."
Miles gulped. He looked back at Ryan through the glass and stated, "I failed as a father... I should have been there for all my children. I spoiled Isabella thinking I was the only one who had her back but ignored Ryan and Diane in the process. As for Jason, I didn't. even know he existed. In this life, I've been a terrible father." "It's never too late, Dad. You can still be a father to all your children now," Lora remarked.
Miles nodded and replied, "You're right. It's no use crying over spilt milk.
I know my children are adults now and they might not needanymore, but I'll try my best to get close to them. At least, in the few years that I have on this earth, I want to be a good father to my children."
