Knock! Knock!

At that moment, Nancy entered with big bags of toys in her hands.

Ever- since she left Angeline's home, she was so busy that there was no sign of her for a couple of days.

“What bring you here all of a sudden?” Angeline was delighted to see her friend. “Also, why did you buy so many

things?”

Nancy responded with a snort before placing the items on Sebastian's bed.

Grinning widely, she explained, “Stop being so narcissistic. I bought all these for my godson. Although a long time

has passed since he was discharged from the hospital, I, his godmother', haven't had the opportunity to visit him

before this.”

She then gave Sebastian's hair a tousle. “Darling, open them up and see if you like them!”

Sebastian looked up at Nancy before glancing in Angeline's direction.

“Go ahead.”

With her approval, he mustered the courage to begin unwrapping the gifts.

Given how short a child's attention span was, Sebastian was now focused on the toys in contrast to clamoring for

Floretta earlier.

As for Nancy, she was more ecstatic than he was when he didn't seem to resent her gifts.

After settling Sebastian down, Nancy was about to discuss business with Angeline when she noticed Anna's

presence.

In an apologetic tone, she greeted tire latter, “Oh, I didn't realize you were here, Dr. Bearbock. I'm sorry to have

missed you.”

“Don't worry about it.” Hands in her pocket, Anna flashed a casual smile. “We just finished for today, and I was

about to take my leave.”

“But you haven't eaten...”

Just when Angeline wanted to persuade her to stay, Nancy's frosty voice rang out. “In that case, thanks for coming,

Dr. Bearbock. I'll let you show yourself out.”

Without another word, Anna picked up her medical bag and left the room.

Watching her leaving silhouette, Angeline couldn't help but frown at Nancy.

“She's Sebastian's psychologist. Couldn't you have been more courteous?”

“I can't put my finger on it, but I just can't bring myself to like her.”

Nancy settled down on the couch before taking a sip of coffee.

“You had better not let your good nature get the better of you. Don't forget that she used to go to the same

university as Evander, and who knows, they might have already had a thing for each other back then. That's why I

doubt her sincerity toward Sebastian.”

Nancy's words served as an implicit reminder to Angeline.

Thinking back to Anna's occasional strange behavior, Angeline fell into a brief silence as a glint of suspicion flashed

across her eyes.

However, the thought of her break up with Evander caused her expression to dramatically darken.

“That's Evander's business and has nothing to do with me now. I can also say the same about Anna's past. All that

matters to me is that she's a good psychologist.”

Shaking her head in resignation, Nancy shot Angeline a sympathetic look.

Ever- since that fateful night, Angeline stopped crying over the breakup and never mentioned Evander in front of

anyone.

In spite of tliat, Nancy, who had known the former for a long time, was well aware that Angeline hadn't moved on at

all.

Instead, she was just enduring the pain until she could find a reason to do so.

“Anyway, don't you have business to discuss with me?”

With her digressing mind pulled back by Angeline's cue, Nancy retrieved a contract from her bag and handed it

over.

“Here's the agreement for the contract cancellation.”

“Contr act cancellation?”

Unable to believe her ears, Angeline's eyes sparkled with surprise as she quickly opened the agreement.

It wasn't until she saw the company's stamp and the management's signature that she finally believed it to be true.

“What happened? Why did they waive the termination fee? This isn't consistent with the company's usual attitude at

all!” Angeline exclaimed as her eyes brimmed with shock.

She found it harder to believe compared to winning the lottery.

All this while, the company has milked its employees dry, so why would they give up on their final opportunity to do

the same to me? Is it due to my long service? Nah, that's even more ridiculous!

Meanwhile, the solemn-looking Nancy was rubbing her hands anxiously.

“I, too, found it unbelievable until I went through the agreement in detail. It was at the end when I saw that the

termination fee had been paid for.”

“What?”

“That's right. You can go through it yourself. There really is a clause saying so. That's the reason why I rushed here

to see you. It's a whopping twenty million, Angeline! Have you gone mad?”

The sight of the huge figure on tire agreement caused Angeline's hand to tremble.

“I didn't pay it.”

This time, it was Nancy's turn to be shocked.

Realizing that Angeline was telling tire truth, Nancy fell into deep thought.

“But who can fork orrt so much money on your behalf?”

“Who else can it be?”

Wearing a wry smile, Angeline elaborated in an unsettled tone, “It has to be him.”

Other than Evander, no one else is capable of paying so much money on such short notice. However, isn't he about

to be engaged to Olivine? Shouldn't he be so preoccupied with the preparations to bother about something like

this? So, what's this supposed to mean? Is he trying to make amends?

Angeline's response conjured up the image of Evander in Nancy's mind. It was then that the latter regretted her

earlier words.

“In tliat case... What should we do? The company even transferred the final payment of the advertising fees into

your account. It's probably too late to terminate the agreement now,” Nancy reminded Angeline warily.

“Tenninate the agreement?” Angeline chuckled. “Wiry should I tenninate tire agreement when I'm not the one in

the wrong?”

Nancy didn't know what to say.

“Since he compensated me with such a huge amount of money out of guilt, why shouldn't I accept it?”

Angeline's words inadvertently delighted Nancy.

“Angeline, have you finally seen the light?”

"Mmm-hmm.”

As Angeline looked out the window, her eyes filled with bitterness.

“Besides, he must have done so in order for me to can get orrt of his sight by leaving the entertainment industry as

soon as possible. The least I can do is fulfill his wishes.”

This time, Angeline's words triggered a frown from Nancy.

“Perhaps...” Nancy hesitated briefly.

However, she swallowed her words in the end when she felt what she wanted to say was inappropriate.

That didn't change the fact that she knew how much Evander cared about Angeline.
