Chapter 1094 Food Stall

There was a long silence. Just when she thought that the man would not speak again, she heard a short laugh from

him, "Do you really want me to misunderstand?"

"I didn't say that!" Alivia was like a flustered little bird, quickly explaining, "I just asked casually."

Bert's intense gaze seemed to examine the thoughts behind her hesitant attitude, but he didn't say anything

further.

The journey continued smoothly, and after the sky had turned completely dark, they finally arrived in Quartz City.

The car was parked in the garage of a six-star hotel, and the room keys were handed to each person by the hotel

staff. Lucas and Bert were staying in one room, while Alivia had her own.

Seeing the room arrangements, Alivia felt relieved. However, before she could let out a sigh of relief completely,

she ran into Bert's meaningful eyes. She immediately held her breath and pretended to be calm as she stepped

into the elevator.

Once she had checked into her room, it was already 7:30 in the evening. Alivia put her belongings away and went to

the neighboring room to find Bert and Lucas. Bert wasn't the type to enjoy traveling, but fortunately, Alivia had

done some research before the trip.

The hotel wasn't far from a food stall known for its delicious seafood, which had received high ratings online. She

suggested going there, and Lucas readily agreed. Bert didn't object either.

As the stall was within walking distance, the three of them strolled there. Alivia followed behind, while Bert held

Lucas's hand and led the way. Seeing their figures—one tall and one short—Alivia felt an unexpected warmth in her

heart.

She had never thought that Bert would have such a side to him. He always appeared indifferent and distant, making

people think he would live a solitary life. However, the reality proved otherwise; he had a soft side too, but it was

reserved for a select few—Lucas was one of them, and so was Lucas's mother.

The cool sea breeze blew across their faces, carrying a salty, moist scent. Alivia glanced at the asphalt road

beneath her feet, and just when she lowered her head, she happened to catch Bert glancing back at her. He

noticed her silently following, not getting lost or lagging behind. Without raising any water splashes, he looked

ahead and continued walking.

After about twelve to thirteen minutes, they saw the lively food stalls by the roadside. Several rows of small stools

were placed along the street, covered by colorful white plastic sheets above. There was a large frying pan and a

long barbecue rack. Nearby, fresh live seafood was displayed.

Bert's expression turned slightly displeased even before they reached the stall. He frowned as he saw several

shirtless men sitting there drinking, unashamed of their appearance, "Is this the place you were talking about?"

He thought it would be very ordinary, but he didn't expect it to be so ordinary.

Alivia nodded and did not notice his reluctance. She was very familiar with such an environment. After smelling the

fragrance, her appetite was even bigger, "Let's go and find a seat."

Lucas wasn't picky either. He held Alivia's hand and walked ahead. However, after just a few steps, they noticed that

the man behind them didn't follow.

Alivia turned around and met Bert's gaze, his handsome face partially concealed. She understood why he hesitated,

but couldn't back down now. She directly grabbed his wrist and pulled him forward, "Come on, come on, give it a

try. The taste is much better than it looks. I searched online, and many locals come here. They say the ingredients

are fresh. Don't look down on these stalls; the taste is no worse than fancy hotels."

Her arguments didn't seem to sway him, especially since he disliked eating with so many strangers around,

especially shirtless men.

Alivia was persistent, though. She clenched her teeth and directly took hold of his hand, dragging him further, "Let's

try it. If it's not good, we'll leave..."

Bert felt stiff for a moment, his eyelids slightly narrowing, and his thick lashes fell on his eyelids. He watched the

soft and delicate hand gripping him, feeling a warm sensation spreading from his palm to his heart. He tried to pull

away slightly, but she held on tighter. He couldn't see her expression clearly, only the dark, shiny back of her head.

In his ears, the girl's voice chattered, "Let's order a few dishes to try since we came all the way here. Come on, just

give it a try."
