Huston felt a pang of heartache as he held Lucas in his arms. He quickly grabbed a few tissues and
gently wiped away his tears and runny nose, showing no hint of disgust, “Don’t cry anymore. From now
on, Daddy will protect you and Mom and never let you be away from me again.”
Lucas wanted to ask him loudly, to resist forgiving this man who had been absent for five years so
easily. But when he felt the strong and reassuring embrace, when he touched that warm and
dependable chest, he couldn’t help but surrender.
He was so eager to see his father, and now his dream finally came true.
