Chapter 209
With a “bang“.
The man grunted and covered his head with his hand as if he wanted to turn around, but his body
swayed a few times, and he fell down.
Emily was also frightened, dropping the baseball bat and quickly backing away.
Soon she returned to her room, locked the door, and panted heavily
Her heart was pounding fiercely, and her whole body felt ice cold. She ran to her bed, picked up her
phone, and started to call the police.
Her hands were still trembling as she dialed.
Fifteen minutes later, she heard the doorbell ring and hid under the blanket, terrified,
It should be the police, Emily got up and went to open the door.
As she passed the living room, she saw the man she had knocked out lying on the balcony.
She tiptoed to the door, peeked through the crack, and indeed it was a policeman standing outside.

A group of five police officers entered the scene, switching on the lights as they made their way
towards the balcony. Emily cautiously trailed behind them, observing as they flipped the unconscious
man over. One officer muttered under their breath, “He doesn’t seem like a thief at all!”
The man was clad in an expensive suit, sporting a valuable–looking watch. Despite being unconscious,
his overall appearance and demeanor were far from ordinary
Driven by curiosity. Emily approached for a closer look. As she caught sight of the man’s face, she
froze in shock. “Why is it him?” she exclaimed.
The police officer looked back at her, “You know him?:
Emily frowned, yeah, did she know him? But she didn’t even know his name!
“He’s badly hurt. Let’s send him to the hospital first. We’ll interrogate him once he wakes up,” the officer
said
The police officers helped the man up, and after checking his ID, they found out his name was Charlie
James!
Seeing this name, the officers exchanged surprised glances. Could he be from the Jarnes family?
They quickly sent Charlie to the hospital, and of course. Emily was taken with them
At the hospital, they hung him on emergency, and after examination, the doctor said. “At the moment, it
seems to be a mild concussion. We’ll have to wait for the results of the tests to know for sure”
Emily was uneasy. “When will he wake up?”
The doctor looked at Emily and laughed, “Did you hit him? Girl, you packed quite a punch!”
Feeling even guiltier, Emily didn’t know what to say.
The doctor reassured her, “Don’t worry, he’ll be awake by tomorrow morning. Just get some rest!”
Emily nodded slightly.
Investigators would interrogate Charlie, thief or not, once he woke up. The nurse settled him in his
hospital room, and the police station sent a female cop to accompany Emily, temporarily spending the
night at the hospital.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEmily slept on the caregiving bed. Perhaps because she was frightened and worried that she might
have hurt the man in the bed, it took her a long time to fall asleep.
The following morning, Emily rose from her sleep, but Charlie remained sound asleep. The
policewoman instructed her to keep an eye on Charlie while she ventured out to purchase breakfast.
Emily took a seat beside the bed, resting her cheeks on her hands, gazing at the man whose
complexion was pale yet exuding an undeniable handsomeness.
Indeed, the man was handsome, otherwise, Noreen wouldn’t cry every day after breaking up with him.
She heard later that Noreen had gone to find this man again, only to see him with a new love interest.
Noreen’s actions left Noreen devastated yet stubbom, causing chaos at home with her endless
complications.
It was merely a man, and although he appeared attractive, he still possessed the usual two eyes and
one mouth. Emily couldn’t fathom why Noreen was making
such a fuss about it
Were there no other men left in the world? Must Noreen latch onto every available option?
Perhaps Noreen was simply too carefree If she were more like Emily, constantly focused on earning
money to save for the upcoming semester’s tuition, she wouldn’t have the energy to bother with men!
In comparison to money, men were hardly worth mentioning.
