Chapter 633

“Don’t move, just let me hold you for a while.”

Since his divorce, he had been trying hard to convince himself not to approach her, because he didn’t want her to be in danger because of the key issue.

But every time he saw her, his longing for her grew uncontrollably, like wild grass that couldn’t be suppressed.

Briana frowned, saying coldly, “Get it straight, we’re already divorced!”

“Can’t I hold you anymore after we’re divorced?”

Briana:

After a few seconds of silence, Briana finally spoke in a cold tone, “I don’t want to have any physical contact with you!”

As her words fell, she distinctly felt Maxim’s b*dy stiffen, and the hand holding her tightened a bit more.

After a while, Maxim finally let her go.

“You go ahead, I will take Sophie back tomorrow.”

Briana bit her lower l*p, originally intending to take Sophie away right then, but after some thought, she feared Maxim might make other unreasonable demands, so she simply left.

Not long after she left, Rayan emerged from the shadows.

“Mr. Yoder, you shouldn’t have agreed to let Ms. Schneider release

Sophie. We hadn’t extracted more important clues from Colin yet. Just knowing that the Bynes family was behind him is utterly useless.”

Maxim’s eyes grew colder, he said solemnly, “He already knew that the Bynes family had never taken good care of his mother and sister, and that was enough.”

Rayan was still somewhat worried, “But what if Colin simply doesn’t care about his sister and mother?!”

“If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t have spoken up to stop his subordinates from assaulting Sophie that day.”

Rayan wanted to persuade Maxim to keep Sophie locked up for a few more days, but Maxim issued a direct order, “Send Sophie away first thing tomorrow morning. As for Colin, keep him locked up.”

“Yes!”

Early the next morning, Sophie was blindfolded and dropped off at her front door. By the time she pulled off the black cloth covering her eyes, there was no one around.

Thinking of the words those two people had warned her with when they brought her back, she couldn’t help but shiver, quickly opening the door and stepping inside.

Fortunately, Lydia still had a few days before she was discharged from the hospital, otherwise, her disappearance for so many days would have driven Lydia to desperation.

She charged and turned on her phone, and sure enough, Lydia had already made several calls.

Sophie quickly dialed back, and the call was soon answered on the other end.

“Sophie, where have you been these past few days? If you don’t contact me soon, I’m going to call the police!”

Sophie bit her lower l*p, feigning nonchalance as she said, “Mom, I’ve been on a business trip these past few days. Work has been quite busy, and I haven’t had time to check my phone until today when I got back.”

Sophie used to occasionally be unreachable for a few days when she was working. Upon hearing this, Lydia didn’t ask any further, but apologized with a sense of guilt, “I’m sorry… It’s all because of me that you’re burdened. If it weren’t for my illness, you wouldn’t have to work so hard.”

“Mom, don’t say such things. Didn’t the doctor say you would be discharged soon? When that time comes, we will live well together. Our life will definitely get better and better.”

“Alright, I won’t disturb your work then. If you’re busy, it’s okay to visit me once a week. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest.”

“Good.”

After hanging up the phone, recalling the things she had experienced in the basement, Sophie couldn’t help but cry.

Although she was not violated, the feeling of those people’s hands roaming over her b*dy was as cold and disgusting as a snake. Even now, when she thinks about it, she feels as if she’s falling into an abyss.

“Ding Dong!”

The doorbell suddenly rang.

Sophie walked to the door, saw it was Briana, took a deep breath, wiped her tears, and then opened the door.

“Ms. Schneider, did you come to see me because I haven’t been to work these past few days?”
