Sweat began to bead on Mr. Haley’s forehead, prompting Dennis to ask one of the assistants to turn on the air
conditioning in the conference room. Summer was in full swing, and the heat was starting to become unbearable.
“Mr. Haley, I’ll have someone bring you an iced soda,” offered Dennis.
Mr. Haley offered a tight smile. He dared not accept any beverage from these people, lest Mr. Raymond perceive it
as a betrayal.
Despite being twenty years older than lan, Mr. Haley showed him more respect than anyone else. However, when it
came to Dennis, he was full of confidence, quietly sitting aside.

With ten minutes left, Dennis had already stood up, a triumphant smile on his face. He even attempted to shake
hands with Mr. Haley, but Mr. Haley remained seated, making the gesture quite awkward.
Pulling his hand back, Dennis furrowed his brow. He wondered if Mr. Haley was planning to back out at the last
minute.
Mr. Haley sat in his seat, his eyes expectantly fixed on the entrance of the conference room.
Dennis felt uneasy.
Maureen spoke up, “Dennis, congratulations. You’re finally the CEO of Raymond Corporation.”
The others quickly voiced their loyalty.
“Yes, congratulations. We should host a grand party at the Raymond family mansion tonight.”
“Invite everyone in our circle.”
“I bet lan will rot in jail for a lifetime. Serves him right, haha.”
“It’s important to leave room for retreat. He didn’t, and now he’s stuck.”
