lan’s hand paused mid–shuffle, a touch of admiration for her thick skin crossing his face.
Outside the bustling hall, Maja froze as she listened to the voice on the other end of the call.
The caller was none other than the currently missing Grandpa Holden
‘Maja.”
The voice on the other end paused, followed by a series of coughs.
‘Grandpa Holden.”
Maja, thinking she was hallucinating, responded urgently.
“Where are you now? lan has been looking for you everywhere.”
“Maja, let’s meet tomorrow night, and don’t tell lan.”
Tomorrow night?
They would be deep in the mountains by then, camping overnight.
This meant that Holden was nearby but chose to remain hidden

Maja was speechless, but she didn’t want to argue. If a conflict arose, lan would be upset again.
She searched all around but found no sign of him until someone kindly mentioned, “He’s in the poker room next
door.”
As for Ryan, he was smitten with Rocky and spent the evening playing with him away from the crowd.
Upon entering the poker room, Maja instantly spotted Judith seated next to lan.
Judith was trying to cozy up to lan, laughing and chatting.
She was the daughter of the Sanders family and was merely leaning on lan. She hadn’t committed any crimes, so
lan had no reason to pick a fight, but he looked uncomfortable.
Seeing Maja enter, he let out a sigh of relief and immediately gave up his seat.
“Maja, come and play”
Maja, preoccupied with her thoughts, shook her head. “I’m going to bed. I just came to let you know.”
lan also moved to retire, considering they hadn’t finished what they started in their room earlier. The thought made
