As Envoy Calis stepped outside, he cast a quick glance back at the house before meeting Aedric's eye. They

stood in silence for a moment, each reflecting on the exchange that had just taken place.

Calis's jaw tightened slightly as he thought it over. He had chere expecting a simple task, assuming that if

anyone made the situation challenging, it would be the Prince-not Lady Fiona After all, she was from the outside

world and, by all accounts, more concerned with healing than politics. But he'd been wrong: Lady Fiona wasn't

just another noble out of her depth. She had made it very clear that she was no easy target,

Aedric broke the silence, clearing his throat and looking uneasy. "What now, Calis? She didn't exactly welcus

Calis shook his head, casting a look over the bustling village. "We're here to help, Ardric, so that's what we'll do.

This village has needs, and Lady Fiona's made it clear she expects us to contribute."

Aedric's brow furrowed as he scanned the crowd. "But there are too many villagers here. Helping all of them. it's

impractical"

Calis narrowed his eyes at Aedric, irritation sparking beneath his calm exterior. "Did you think our job was to sit

around and merely observe. Aedric! Or did you think this assignment was simply a formality?"

Aedric glanced away, a hint of embarrassment crossing his face. "I thought our job was just to monitor her, to

ensure she wasn't doing anything.. problematic,"

Calis rolled his eyes. "You're missing the point. Right now, everyone here sees us as allies. They greet us, they

smile at us, and they look at us as part of Lady Fiona's entourage. If she decides otherwise, this attitude will shift

overnight, and we'll be the outsiders. Is that something you want?"

Aedric's frown deepened, his mouth tightening "But why should | have to dirty my hands with this? We're Beta-

blooded. We aren't supposed to be working for Omegas,"

Calis caught the flash of disgust in Aedric's expression and sighed inwardly. He'd known this attitude would be a

problem. The rigid structure of their world, with Betas looking down on Omegas, was firmly embedded in Aedric's

mind.

"We're here to represent the council, Aedric. That means we don't get to decide who we deem worthy of our

help, Calis said, his gaze firm. "Lady Fiona isn't holding to any pack hierarchy here. These people are her priority,

and the council sent us to assist her. If you can't accept that, then you'd best brace yourself because the

Stormvale Pack will suffer the consequences"

Aedric's face twisted with frustration, his fists clenched. "This entire setup is backward. We're Betas, Calis, not

servants. Why should we degrade ourselves for Omegas!"

Calis crossed his arms, his gaze hardening "If you don't adapt, Aedric, you'll be the one facing disgrace. You

heard the rumors- influence is spreading, and the people admire her more with each passing day. They see her

as one of their own, while we're just outsiders. That Lady Fiona's

sn't going to change unless you shift your perspective."

Andric looked around, his expression conflicted. He could see the villagers watching them, sstill offering

friendly nods and waves. But Calis could tell from his posture that he was struggling to reconcile his status with

the situation they found themselves in. The old ways, the rigid hierarchy, and the sense of superiority-everything

he'd grown up believing was being tested.

After a long pause, Aedric finally sighed, looking resigned. "Tine, Calis. I'll help them. But this doesn't feel right. It

feels... beneath us."

Calic offered a curt nod, satisfied for now. "Good. And remember, we're here on behalf of the council. Our

behavior will be noticed, and so will our intentions Lady Fiona may be a healer, but she isn't blind to our motives.

So, if you want your Pack to maintain any respect or influence, you'll adapt. Now, let's get to work"

a turul look of resignation, Ardric nodded and followed Calls toward the center of the village, where the people

waited expectantly, They quickly arrived at the center of the village and found a few prominent figures there.

Among them were Lady Carissa and Rio. Calis immediately approached Lady Carissa, offering a respectful

greeting, while caught Aedric's eye and signaled him to step aside.

Arrific's face wasted in frustration. "Then explain why we're even here, Rio. Why are we wasting time, acting like

"| believe Lady Fiona wanted to bully Lady Carissa in silence,"

"Huh?" Aedric blinked as if he couldn't understand what was talking about.

Rio's gaze turned sharp as he pocketed the enchanted stone, fixing Aedric with a determined look "Lady Fiona's

behavior toward Lady Carissa is nothing short of dismissive, he began. "Here's Lady Carissa, who brought

supplies, and organized assistance, and yet-what does Lady Fiona do? Barely acknowledges her. Acts as if Lady

Carissa's efforts don't even exist."

Aedric raised an eyebrow, caught off guard. "You think Lady Fiona's actively ignoring her!"

"Not just ignoring" insisted. "Suppressing, Lady Carissa steps in to help, she brings aid from her own

resources, and instead of showing gratitude, Lady Fiona takes over, claiming all the attention. It's like she's

determined to keep Lady Carissa in her shadow" Aedric glanced back toward where Lady Carissa stood, caught

between confusion and a dawning sense of understanding "But isn't Lady Carissa here on her own accord? |

thought she volunteered to support these villages

"She did, and that's what makes it worse," replied, his expression tightening with conviction. "Lady Carissa

chere out of genuine goodwill. But Lady Fiona's actions have made her contributions seem. Insignificant

She's making Lady Carissa look like just another helper, rather than the one who brought half of these supplies

in the first place."

Aedric frowned piecing it together. "So you think Lady Fiona's, overshadowing her intentionally?"

nodded, almost eagerly. "Exactly. Lady Fiona sees Lady Carissa as a rival, plain and simple. She knew that

the Queen intends to marry Prince Elijah to Lady Carissa, Why else would she dismiss her efforts in front of the

entire village? She's creating this image of herself as the only benefactor, all while Lady Carissa stands quietly in

the background, unrecognized"

Aedric seemed to consider this, his gaze shifting between Lady Carissa and Lady Fiona thoughtfully. "And you're

sure this isn't just a misunderstanding Lady Fiona's busy with all the villagers, healing them."

crossed his arms, his jaw clenched in a self-assured way "Lady Fiona knows exactly what she's doing. She's

not just 'busy' She's making sure Lady Carissa's kept in the background. The villagers might be singing Lady

Fiona's praises now, but without Lady Carissa's contributions, they'd have no food, no supplies."

He glanced at Aedric, a flash of righteous determination in his eyes. "Someone needs to stand up for Lady

Carissa. Lady Fiona may be the prince's favored healer, but she's not above common courtesy of respect. It's

about tsomeone reminded her that Lady Carissa deserves her due recognition.
