Mary looked back at the man behind her and knocked on the door.
“Mrs.
Sullivan, he’s here.”
Suddenly, Maria’s voice cfrom the inside.
“Let him in.”
Mary glanced at the man from behind again and whispered, “You can get in now.
Just remember to watch your words.
You should keep your mouth shut if you don’t want to go back there.”

Mary’s words, and it was difficult to guess what he was thinking at the moment.
Mary fixed her gaze on him.

“Move along now.” She frowned and pushed the man to go inside.
The man walked past her without a word.
He got hold of the doorknob, pushed the door open, and walked in.
Once he entered the room, his eyes were drawn to a screen.
Dozens of scarlet roses were embroidered on the screen, and the gauze reflected the backside of the
woman seated in front of the dressing table.
Even on screen, she was undeniably attractive.
The man remained standing in front of the screen and said nothing.
Maria lowered her head and painted her fingernails.
She could see the man enter the room through the mirror, but she didn’t start to speak until she finished painting her nails.
“How was your trip
“It was okay,” the man answered in a low voice.
“I heard you’ve been struggling overseas in the past few years.
I didn’t expect you to cback after hearing the news from me.”
Maria set the nail polish bottle down, turned around, and peered at the man through the screen.
