Chapter 1320
Sure, she had seen Quincy just now, but a brief encounter wasn't going to throw her off balance. She was
learning to let go. Life was too long to spend it mourning over one person forever.
"What's there to feel shortchanged about?" Lydia chuckled lightly.
"I had wanted to take you to a nice restaurant, but you were hungry, so we just grabbed a bite here at the mall.
Lydia, back when you were with your family, you were used to the best. Now, look at this," Eugene continued,
trying to make his point. He was implying that Quincy had let her down.
Quincy's family didn't have much to begin with. Over the years, he had managed to save up a decent amount,
but with the expenses of buying a house and covering the costs of the wedding, along with running his own

business with steady cash flow and regular dividends. They had countless assets, and even just the rental
incfrom their properties would be more than enough to live on comfortably.
Lydia understood what Eugene was hinting at, but she didn't feel like she had been slighted in the least. "The
fish here is fresh, and lots of people like this place. | enjoy trying new things, even street food now and then."
Especially during the toughest times for her and Quincy. They were always so busy and didn't have much money
to spare. They often got off work late, and by the tthey got home, it was too late to cook. So, they would just
grab something to eat on their way back. Looking back, those were really simple and pleasant days. Lydia didn't
regret a single moment of it, and she didn't feel like she had anything to complain about.
"Street food?" Eugene's eyes turned misty. "If you married me, I'd make sure you'd never have to settle. I'd make
you the Mrs. Ford everyone envies."
Just then, the server brought out their dish. It was a plate of grilled fish with a lemon and garlic seasoning, steam
rising from the broth.
"Enjoy your meal," the server said, setting down the tableware.
Lydia picked up her utensils, took a bite, and smiled. "This place really does have great flavor. You should try it."
Since she had already started,

Eugene didn't want to spoil her appetite. Reluctantly, Eugene picked up his utensils and took a bite of the fish,
his brows furrowing even deeper. "Lydia, this fish really isn't great. Farmed fish just can't compare to the flavor of
something fresh from the sea. And the service here isn't that great either."

He was clearly frustrated that the server had interrupted him at such an important moment. If she had any
sense, she wouldn't have chosen that exact moment to bring out their food. A little earlier or a little later would
have been fine, but she had picked the one tthat was most inconvenient, almost as if she had done it on
purpose.
"What did you just say? | didn't catch that," Lydia asked, looking up as she wiped her mouth with a napkin.
She really hadn't been able to hear him clearly. The restaurant was bustling with people talking and laughing,
and she had been too focused on eating to pay attention.
Eugene shook his head, realizing it wasn't worth repeating. "Oh, it's nothing. If you didn't catch it, then just
forget it. Let's eat."
He figured they would have plenty of chances to talk in the future. If he couldn't express himself now, there
would always be another time. There was no rush.
