Chapter 743

Chapter 743

The next morning, Rachel said goodbye to Blackhawk and set off for the

airport.

As the car drove out of the Peckham Palace, a white Bentley Continental rolled to a stop in front of them.

Rachel looked up instinctively and spotted someone getting out of the front passenger seat.

That person held a wooden box in his hand as he walked straight towards the car Rachel and David were in.

Billy, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, looked at David as if asking a silent question.

Seeing David nod slightly, he gestured for his subordinates to let the man approach.

As the person walked closer, Rachel finally realized she had seen him at the Davies family home.

She lowered her car window, and the man walked up to her.

He held the box with both hands and said respectfully, “Miss Grey, my master Mr. Davies instructed me to hand this

over to you.”

“What’s this?” Rachel looked at the box in front of her and frowned. Her eyes were filled with curiosity.

The man smiled and said in a politely reserved manner, “Mr. Davies did not say anything to me. He merely

instructed that this box must be handed over to you at all costs. Miss Grey, please inspect its contents after you

leave.”

Hearing this, Rachel’s eyes darkened with slight suspicion.

Why did she have to wait until she left before opening it?

Was there something unspeakable within this box?

She thought for a moment and slowly reached out to take the box. “Here, I’ll take it. Help me pass on my good

wishes to Mr. Davies.”

“No problem at all, Miss Grey,” the man replied. “Mr. Davies also said that the both of you hit it off during your first

meeting. The both of you will meet again in the future.”

With that, the man left.

Still sitting in the car, Rachel looked thoughtfully at the man’s back as he left. Suddenly, her lips curled into an

intriguing smile.

Mr. Davies was a pretty interesting character too.

He hardly spoke a word to her but kept giving her hints.

Well, they weren’t hints, to be exact. It would be more accurate to describe his inexplicable behaviors as bait.

That’s right–he was trying to wear her down until she finally took the bait.

The car set off again, this time driving straight to the airport uneventfully.

Rachel followed Mr. Davies’s instructions. Despite her intense curiosity, she held herself back from lifting the box’s

lid to inspect its contents.

She looked at the shrinking city through the airplane window and could not help but sigh deeply.

She did not expect her first time in Aureliana to leave her with so many deep memories.

Even more unexpectedly, her time in this city had left her with several unanswered questions.

After a long flight, the plane arrived at the international airport smoothly.

Eddie had been waiting for them in front of his Rolls–Royce for a long while.

Once he saw Rachel and David exiting the airport, he hurried over to greet them immediately. “Sir, Miss Grey.”

Rachel nodded at him. Just as she bent down and was about to get into the car, she paused and said to Eddie, “Take

me to Grand Central Law Firm

immediately”

That was the law firm where her uncle Adrian worked.

There was something she had to ask him.

After more than an hour, the car finally stopped in front of Grand Central Law Firm.

David Jones pressed the back of her head against his palm and pecked her lips lightly. There was a hint of

gentleness in the depths of his deep eyes. “Remember to call me if you need anything.”

“Got it.” Rachel smiled and kissed the corner of his lips. She opened the car door and got out.

After watching Rachel leave, David retracted his gaze and returned to his usual cold and indifferent expression.

“Well? Spit it out.”

Hearing this, Eddie finally revealed the information he had been hiding so far. “Someone has been investigating

Miss Grey recently.”

He paused and looked at the expression on David’s face through the rearview mirror. Carefully, he continued, “Also,

the Johnson family has encountered some difficulties in their business recently.”

He suspected the other party might have discovered something and was preparing to bring about the Johnson

family’s downfall.

David’s expression was as cold as a sheet of snow. He narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze taking on a steely glint.

“No matter who it is, kill their determination immediately.”

“Yes, sir.”

Meanwhile, Rachel walked into the law firm. The young receptionist at the front desk asked politely, “Hello, Miss,

Who are you looking for?“.

Rachel said calmly, “I’m looking for Adrian Johnson.”

“Qh,” the receptionist drawled. She looked at Rachel with a hint of

contempt, and her attitude became even more disrespectful. “Do you have

an appointment?”

“No,” Rachel said.

“I’m sorry. Without an appointment, Mr. Johnson doesn’t accept guests.” The smile on the receptionist’s face was

not as courteous as before. Instead, it looked much more perfunctory now.

Rachel guessed the receptionist had mistaken her for one of Adrian’s several ardent pursuers. “Please help me call

and tell him his niece is looking for him.”

Upon hearing this, the receptionist sneered with disdain. “Miss, I don’t mean to be harsh, but at least come up with

a better excuse. That one over there certainly did.”

She nodded her chin in a certain direction, indicating for Rachel to look

over.

“That woman tried to enter by pretending she was Mr. Johnson’s fiancée. She has been waiting for over two hours.”

As she spoke, the receptionist’s eyes were fixed on her phone screen as she steadfastly refused to look at Rachel.

“Besides, do you even know who his niece is? How dare you impersonate her? Mr. Johnson will take you to task if he

finds out.”

Rachel narrowed her eyes and stared at the receptionist coldly. “I don’t know about him taking me to task, but I’m

sure today will be your last day working here!”

With that, she walked straight to the elevator.

Seeing this, the receptionist quickly called for the security guards to stop her.

Coincidentally, Adrian’s assistant spotted Rachel and quickly went up to her. “Miss Grey, what are you doing here?”

“Where’s Adrian?” Rachel asked, addressing her uncle by his name.

Upon hearing this, the assistant subconsciously glanced at the closed door of Adrian’s office. Seeming to recall an

important meeting happening

inside, his mind short–circuited for a moment. “Mr. Johnson, he… he went

out for something…”

However, Rachel was able to make a vague guess about the situation from his momentary pause. She made a

beeline for Adrian’s office.

“Miss Grey…” The assistant quickly stopped her.

He had just taken a step forward when Rachel suddenly turned around. “By the way, I just remembered

something.“.

“What is it?”

“I don’t want to see the receptionist who received me just now ever again.”

With that, she strode towards Adrian’s office.

However, when she walked in, she regretted her decision immediately.

No wonder Adrian’s assistant stopped her from coming in previously.

Why was her uncle, who had never been interested in women, pressing one onto the table and kissing her

passionately?

Moreover, if she was not mistaken, that woman seemed to be… Jessica Tower?!

“Ahem.” Rachel coughed softly. “Why don’t we take a break first?”

Upon hearing Rachel’s voice, Adrian and Jessica’s bodies stiffened.

“You, why did you suddenly come back?” Adrian slowly stood up. He pretended to be calm and raised his hand to

prod the glasses on the bridge. of his nose. He looked at Rachel awkwardly and did not forget to take off his suit

jacket to protect Jessica’s modesty.

Rachel looked at Jessica, who was shielded by Adrian, and said meaningfully, “Yes, it’s quite sudden, isn’t it?”
