Fortunately, Old Mr. Johnson quickly returned to his usual self. “One of the Shain family’s
granddaughters will be getting engaged. I want you to attend the ceremony on my behalf.”
“Alright,” Rachel Grey replied.
Then she heard Old Mr. Johnson say, “Your Grandpa Shain told me that a special guest from would
come this time. He’s about the same age as you. I think your interests and hobbies are similar. He
hopes that you can be his guide while he’s here in Seaxas.”
Rachel’s eyebrows twitched.
The so–called engagement of the Shain family’s granddaughter was just a pretense.
Their real purpose was to come up with an excuse for Rachel to meet with the special guest.
“Grandpa, I already have a boyfriend.” Rachel glanced in the direction of the desk, hoping David Jones
could stay put.
Meanwhile, under the desk, David’s face darkened once he heard Old Mr. Johnson.
David knew who this special guest was even if Old Mr. Johnson did not name him.

Rachel pursed her lips and laughed dryly.
On the surface, there seemed to be only two people in the office, but in reality, there were three.
David must have heard everything they said.
“I have an appointment with someone. We’re going to play chess. So, I need to leave now.” Old Mr.
Johnson walked toward the door with his walking stick. Just before he left, he turned around and
looked at Rachel meaningfully. “Rae–Rae, your mother’s greatest wish is for you to grow up safe. Do
you understand?”
Rachel became depressed the moment the subject was brought up. She pursed her lips and said, “I
know.”
Old Mr. Johnson returned to his car, his gait relaxed.
The butler sat in the front passenger seat and looked at the worried Old Mr. Johnson. “Sir, how was it?”
Old Mr. Johnson shook his head and sighed. “That girl won’t say anything.”
Then he chuckled. “She’s still a child, in the end, thinking that she deceived everyone. The cups on the
coffee table have long exposed her.”

“Should we get Mr. Adrian to look into this?” the butler probed.
Old Mr. Johnson waved his hand. “You know how stubborn Adrian is. He might go out of hand if he
gets wind of this. Let’s just observe for now.”
He turned his head and stared at the Johnson Corporation building. Then, he leaned back in his chair
with a tired expression. He sighed and slowly closed his eyes.
He could say that his precious daughter, who passed away, had given him a major problem.

Rachel recalled Old Mr. Johnson’s mannerisms earlier. She could not help but think that he was acting
strangely.
Previously, when Old Mr. Johnson found out that she was dating Louis Smith, not only did he react
violently, but he also ordered her to break up with Louis immediately.
Initially, she thought Old Mr. Johnson objected to her relationship with Louis because their statuses
were unmatched. She understood why Old Mr. Johnson felt relieved when she broke up with Louis.
She could start dating again once she was single. However, Mr. Old Johnson did not seem too pleased
about it.
