Lincon was the first to react. “Quick! Go after the military insignia!” he shouted. Eloise

immediately commanded, “Go after it!”

Jaxon drew his sword abruptly. He led a squad of Draken Guardians in the direction where

Elijah disappeared, racing after him.

“How could this happen?” Austin was bewildered, standing frozen, unsure of what to do.

He hadn’t expected Elijah to snatch the military insignia, so he was completely

unprepared. By the time he realized it, Elijah had already made a swift escape.

“Your Highness, Elijah is likely working for Julius,” Lincon explained with a grave tone.

He added, “His unwavering support for you and helping the castle maintain order was just

a ploy to make you drop your guard. When the time was right, he’d seize the military

insignia and push us into a corner.”

“Damn it! I never thought Elijah would be a traitor. How despicable!” Wyatt fumed.

“No wonder he kept suggesting using the military insignia to control the Black Dragon

Army against Julius. He was laying the groundwork to snatch it. This guy is truly cunning!”

Tyrus angrily exclaimed.

“If we can’t retrieve the military insignia and it falls into Julius’ hands, then we’re

completely defeated!”

Eloise frowned. Her expression turned grim.

The Marshal’s military insignia determined the command of the Black Dragon Army. In the

past, Julius used to pull strings and exert his influence to command the Black Dragon

Army.

With the military insignia, he could openly order the entire army. In the face of 50

thousand troops at the city gates, no one across West Lucozia and beyond would be able

to resist.

“Mom, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. If I had been more careful, this might not have

happened.” Austin looked guilty. After all, losing the military insignia from his hands was a

mistake for which he felt responsible.

“This has nothing to do with you. Elijah hid his true nature too well. None of us anticipated

that he would be a traitor.” Eloise managed with a forced smile.

“I’ll go after him right now. I’ll definitely retrieve the military insignia! “He unsheathed his

sword, ready to dash outside.

“Wait!” Lincon immediately stood in front of Austin. He said sternly, “Your Highness, Elijah,

is exceptionally powerful. With your current strength, chasing him would be futile, and you

might put yourself in danger.”

“Shouldn’t we do something rather than just sit here?” Austin frowned.

“General Steele has already gone after him. If he catches up, there’s hope. If not, we must

prepare for the worst,” Lincon said solemnly.

“The worst? What do you mean?” Tyrus asked.

“If the military insignia falls into Julius ‘hands, what consequences do you think we’ll

face?” Lincon asked.

“Well…” Tyrus furrowed his brow, his expression turning grim.

“We all opposed Julius. For him, we’re like thorns in his side.” Lincon looked at Austin and

Eloise, his tone heavy.

He continued, “Once he takes power, we won’t escape death! As for you, Your Highnesses,

while you may not lose your lives, you’ll be confined for life, never to see the light of day

again!”

“If that’s the case, we might as well confront them head-on!” Wyatt declared indignantly.

“Can you take on 50 thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers?” Lincon retorted.

“What do we do then?” Wyatt frowned.

“I suggest we prepare for an escape,” Lincon said, looking at the group.

He added, “If General Steele can retrieve the military insignia, that’s the best scenario. If

not, we escape the castle and West Lucozia for now and reconsider our options later.”
