An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1146
Christopher had chosen his words intentionally. On one hand, he genuinely admired Dustin. He saw
him as a young talent who excelled in both the martial and literary arts and had a promising future.
Not only that, he also had an impeccable character and a pleasant personality. A young prodigy like
him was a rare find in the whole of Dragonmarsh. If only Dustin could become his grandson -in-law, the
Murray family would be in good hands.
On the other hand, he had Sheila’s well -being in mind. She was a kind- hearted and rather innocent
girl who easily fell for deceit. She needed a strong protector by her side, and Dustin was the best
choice.
They were the perfect match. Sheila stood quietly behind the both of them. Her face was tinged with a
blush, reflecting both shyness and anticipation. She waited for Dustin’s response, hoping to hear the

“Thank you for thinking highly of me, General Murray. But an ordinary citizen like me is not worthy of
Ms. Murray.” Dustin declined while shaking his head.
“Kid, I know who you are, so it’s pointless to put it that way. I just want to know if you have any feelings
for Sheila,” Christopher asked again.
“General Murray, we’re just friends. That’s all,” Dustin replied decisively. Just friends? Christopher
frowned slightly.
Why did it sound awkward? Didn’t Dustin say he saw her as a sister? Why did he make it sound so
distant now? Sheila’s face stiffened when she heard that. She was disappointed.
“Kid, why don’t you reconsider?” Christopher was reluctant to admit defeat. He put down his pride for
the sake of his granddaughter’s happiness.
“General Murray, some things are best not forced.” Dustin shook his head again, his gaze resolute.
Christopher sighed. “Alright, alright. I won’t interfere in the affairs of you young people,” he conceded.
“General Murray, I believe I’m not needed here any longer. I will take my leave now.” Dustin respectfully
bid his farewell and prepared to depart.
“Dustin…” Sheila couldn’t help but call out to him.
“Hmm?” Dustin turned around, confused.
He asked, “What is it, Ms. Murray?” “Dustin, I’m really sorry for the misunderstanding. Please accept
my sincere apology.” Looking down, Sheila appeared remorseful.
“Ms. Murray, you did nothing wrong. I’ve never put the blame on you. So you don’t have to apologize.”
Dustin shook his head.
It didn’t matter who was right or wrong; it was only a matter of trust. Sheila had made her decision, and
he had no reason to feel dissatisfied.
“Will we see each other again?” Sheila gripped the corner of her shirt, feeling nervous and hopeful.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmDustin appeared polite and courteous. However, for some reason, he felt distant. He used to call her
Sheila, but he now addressed her as Ms. Murray. It showed just how much distance had grown
between them.
“We will meet again if fate allows it. Goodbye.” With a faint smile, Dustin walked straight out of the
Murray residence.
“Dustin… .” Sheila felt empty as she watched him leave. It was as if something important was slowly
slipping away.
“What happened between you two?” Christopher’s curiosity got the better of him.
“I…” Sheila hesitated. Finally, she decided to briefly recount the situation. Christopher was exasperated
after hearing her story. “How can you be so foolish? Can’t you distinguish right from wrong?
“You believed the slander those Scoundrels spewed but confronted the one who helped you? Y-You …
You’re going to drive me mad!”
“Grandpa, I know I was wrong. Can you help me?” Sheila asked weakly.
