In the brightly lit ward, Nicholas stayed by Tessa’s side and comforted her over and over again.

scared. No one came to save me no matter how much I begged. I thought I was done for, and I even
thought of just dying like this.”
Listening to Tessa’s words, Nicholas felt his heart wrenching. “It’s all right now; don’t be scared. I’ll
always be by your side.”
He pulled her out of his arms and held her tear-stained face, slowly kissing off the tears that kept
overflowing from the corners of her eyes. Under his coaxing, she gradually calmed down and fell asleep
in a daze again.
