Jasmine, still feeling the lingering unease from the previous night’s encounter, got ready for work the next morning. She grabbed
a can of pepper spray and laser tag as well.
As she stepped out of the building, her senses on high alert, she scanned the surroundings, half-expecting the mysterious
person from the night before to be watching. A car was parked just a few feet away, and her apprehension heightened. She
walked away but the h onking of the car drew her attention.
She turned to just as thee windows rolled down, it was Axel. “Get in, I’ll drop you off.” He stated.
She hesitated, taken aback by the unexpected gesture.
“What?” she asked, seeking clarification.
“I’ll drop you off at work,” he repeated, determination in his voice. Before she could argue further, he insisted, “Just get in, leaving
no room argument.
Feeling the weight of the stalker’s watchful eyes on her, Jasmine decided that going with Axel might indeed be the safer option.
With a mix of curiosity and caution, she walked back towards the car and entered.
Axel’s offer to drop her off was oddly comforting.
As the car journeyed towards her workplace, silence settled between Jasmine and Axel. The two of them lost in their own
thoughts. Axel, focused on the road, drove directly to her workplace, surprising Jasmine with his knowledge of her destination.
“How did you...?” she started to ask, curiosity evident in her voice.
“The other time when we met, you were wearing your company’s ID, Axel explained, offering a plausible excuse. In reality, he
had actually taken some the time to thoroughly research details about her.
Jasmine, a bit taken aback, appreciated the gesture and stepped out of the vehicle. “Thank you,” she said, her voice expressing
both gratitude and relief.
He had gone out of his way researching on her but could barely make any discoveries about her. She could actually be in
danger.
Ethan arrived at work that morning, his usual authoritative demeanor replaced by a quiet and contemplative one. Deep in
thought, he canceled all his meetings and headed straight to his office, where the weight of something unspoken seemed to
linger in the air, casting a melancholic shadow over him.
Later in the day, Axel, approached him with an announcement.
“You would be needing a driver, Axel declared, cutting straight to the point. Ethan didn’t show any immediate reaction, merely
looking at Axel with an unreadable expression.
As Ethan’s assistant, driving him around was part of Axel’s responsibilities, but today marked a shift. Axel had decided to take
Jasmine to work, ensuring her safety from the mysterious stalker, Making it clear that he wouldn’t be available to drive Ethan
home.
“I won’t be available to drive you home,” Axel added, a firmness in his tone.
Ethan gave no reaction only looking away.
“Did you hear me?” Axel probed
Axel’s question echoed in the air unanswered Ethan’s gave a half-hearted grunt in response revealing a lack of interest in the
conversation, but Axel wasn’t deterred. The decision had been made, and Axel left without offering any further explanation,
leaving Ethan alone with his thoughts.
Frustrated and restless, Ethan contemplated reaching out to Hazel. Several times he would grab his phone, poised to dial her
number, only to halt the process midway. After almost an hour of this back-and-forth, he finally gave up, tossing the phone aside
with a heavy sigh.
Picking up
the phone again, he considered sending a text. However, the blank screen stared back at him, a reflection of the uncertainty and
confusion clouding his mind. He grappled with the words, unsure of where to

start or how to convey the complexity of his feelings,
I’ll be heading to the hospital, to check on the project.” Axel informed him moments later.

It was almost completely done, what was left was some mural painting to brighten the place and few other touches to be made.
It’s opening and the hospital fundraiser was a few days away.
“Okay.” Ethan replied.
Axel stared wondering at Ethan questioningly wondering why the man wasn’t eager to go with him as he normally was.
Knowing Hazel was at work Ethan would usually grab any excuse to go visit at the hospital.
But now, Ethan only sat there a distant expression on his face. Though a strong desire to visit Hazel’s kids tugged at him, he
understood Hazel’s reluctance, she didn’t want him visiting her kids or getting too close. He didn’t want her doing anything
drastic like taking them out of the hospital just because of him. For now, knowing they were safe where he had people all over
looking after them would have to suffice. The last thing. he wanted was to disrupt their lives or jeopardize their safety and Daisy’s
health.
TII be leaving in a few minutes. Axel informed him then turned to leave. Axel’s departure marked the silent acknowledgment of
this decision
Ethan went back to the pattern of grabbing and staring at his Phone screen. Just then it lit up and vibrated Ethan glanced at it
and an immediate sense of alarm struck him. It was a message from Devin, the person he left in charge of the kindergarten.
Ethan’s mind raced with concern had something happened to Liam?
The memories of the previous emergency call, where Liam was rushed to the hospital, still haunted him. The fear of history
repeating itself gnawed at his insides.
“Did something happen to Liam? Where is he?’ Ethan’s tone carried a mixture of concern and urgency, his worry evident in every
word he uttered.
“Liam’s here, he’s fine,” Devin calmly responded, attempting to soothe Ethan’s heightened anxiety. “He walked in a while ago
and demanded to speak with you,” the man continued, his voice steady, offering a glimmer of relief.
Ethan wasted no time. He sat up abruptly, his grip tightening on the phone and with urgency in his voice, he instructed, “Give him
the phone.”.
