Chapter 891 Sylvia heard the desperate cries and immediately walked towards the crowd. In the center, a child lay barely breathing with a Tesla car that had crashed into a flower bed emitting smoke in front of him. The child was covered in blood and held by a young woman.
Sylvia quickly approached and knelt beside the young woman. "I'm a doctor, let me help." The young woman's face was full of tears as she looked up at Sylvia like she had found her savior. "Doctor, please save my child.” Just then, an elegantly dressed elderly lady with white hair stumbled out of the Tesla car while coughing violently. "I hit the brakes but they failed to work," she explained as she walked over.
However, many onlookers were displeased when they saw her and began to voice their opinions. "What is someone your age doing driving?" "You should be retired at home!" "Look how badly this poor kid is hurt... don't you have any conscience?" Sylvia continued examining the child's injuries while cautioning against moving him since he may have broken ribs or arm bones or even suffered from brain trauma.
She tore off part of her own dress to bandage his wounds while he remained unconscious with closed eyes. Meanwhile, behind Sylvia and the young mother stood Jasmine who felt guilty for what happened.
"It's all my fault; | never thought that my brakes would fail," Jasmine said apologetically.
As Sylvia lifted her head up after finishing bandaging up some wounds on the boy's body parts, Jasmine's familiar face caught her attention causing her eyebrows to furrow in surprise. "Ms. Hipps?" Jasmine froze upon seeing Sylvia here unexpectedly. "Miss Andrews?" Sylvia glanced at Jasmine before looking back at her Tesla car again saying. "The Tesla belongs to electric cars which are considered high-end vehicles but recently there has been frequent brake failure incidents reported about them... | didn't expect Ms. Hipps to own one." It was clear that these cars were very unstable yet it seemed like their manufacturers refused to take responsibility for it.
They refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem with their cars. They push all the blame onto the consumers, saying that they are intentionally accusing the brand in order to make a profit.
Unfortunately, this Tesla car is a high-end electric sedan brand under the Ritter Group.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe Ritter Group's attitude is very tough and they take no responsibility.
Even though there has been strong public opinion on social media recently and netizens are very angry, it hasn't shaken the Ritter Group's stance at all.
Jasmine had good driving skills and had been driving for over ten years. She never thought she would get into trouble because of a Tesla car. The brakes failed and it almost caused a life-threatening situation. This child was still so young; if anything happened to him, not only would Jasmine be legally responsible but also morally guilty for her entire life.
Now seeing Sylvia kneeling down to bandage the child's wounds gave Jasmine an inexplicable sense of security. But when she glanced at her Tesla car, her eyes turned cold.
An ambulance quickly arrived with sirens blaring at the scene of the accident. An emergency doctor jumped out of his vehicle carrying a stretcher and carefully lifted up the child before looking towards Sylvia.
"Dr. Sylvia? When did you return to Larro?" A surprised voice rang out as Sylvia looked up to see Dr. Remy, one of her former colleagues from Lilypad General Hospital.
She smiled," | just got back two days ago." "Oh my goodness! You're so famous now! So many big shots want you to perform surgery on them but were rejected by our dean! Recently | heard that an old professor came from abroad with serious illness who also wants you do surgery on him! Do you want to go back hospital together? The dean will be thrilled when he finds out about your return!" Dr. Remy excitedly said, "Let's send this kid off first, then we can catch up later!" No matter how much they chatted though, they couldn't ignore their patient's life being in danger. Sylvia patted off dirt from herself, "I'l come too." She took out her phone and called Franklin, "There's a patient here who's quite serious. I'm going to hospital now. If there isn't any traffic jam, you can go back first." As she spoke, she walked towards ambulance. The young woman saw that child was taken away and immediately followed after them. Jasmine stayed behind with traffic police officer making notes.
This shocking traffic accident made headlines within minutes, it was everywhere on social media. "Tesla Car Loses Control Again And Hits Child." "Can You Trust Your Tesla Car?" "What number accident is this for Tesla?" "The brakes failed, oh my god, it's so scary." "God bless the child and keep them safe.” After receiving Sylvia's phone call, Franklin was filled with frustration. Did she forget why they left home today? It was truly helpless.
The ambulance rushed towards the hospital with sirens blaring and twenty minutes later came to a stop at the emergency department entrance. Sylvia got out of the car too, and her colleagues at the hospital were surprised to see her.
They greeted her one after another. "Dr. Sylvia is back?" "Dr. Sylvia, long time no see!" "Are you going to take care of this emergency patient? You just brought him here." Sylvia felt their warmth and immediately said. "I happened to be passing by at the scene of an accident where a child was injured badly. I will perform surgery on him myself if that's okay with everyone." “All right!” The young woman was a bit stunned now; she knew that Larro had a famous surgeon named Dr. Sylvia but never thought she would be so lucky as to meet her in person! She had been through so much pain and fear before but now felt incredibly grateful - she had met an expert who could save her son from death! The surgery took about two hours.
Afterward, they pushed the child out of the operating room.
It turned out that his injuries were similar to what Sylvia had predicted - several broken ribs but no brain damage thanks goodness; he also suffered fractures in his arm and leg which required rest for recovery purposes only because children grow fast enough naturally anyway.
The young mother held onto Sylvia's hand tearfully saying. "Thank you so much!" "Don't mention it," replied Sylvia nodding slightly before noticing Jasmine sitting nearby all along.
"What happened, Miss Hipps?" She asked curiously.
Jasmine sighed heavily," The car has been sent for inspection but | haven't received any results yet regarding how or why it malfunctioned during our trip today... | am here paying off medical expenses." She then pulled out an envelope full of cash from her bag handing it over respectfully while apologizing once more. "Please accept this money as compensation regardless whether or not my car caused this tragedy... it is still my responsibility either way." Her attitude seemed very sincere indeed.
The young woman looked at the cultured old lady with an unpleasant expression. "I have no obligation to be polite to the person who caused the accident. Keep your money, | don't care." She raised her head, a hint of dignity and pride on her face. "I just hope my son can wake up and be healthy and safe." Jasmine sighed heavily, her face full of guilt. "I'm sorry." The traffic police came over again to mediate, but the young woman's attitude remained very tough.
Jasmine was also helpless and had to run out again to buy a lot of nutritious products from nearby shopping malls and send them all over.
Her attitude was good though.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Miss Andrews, | need a favor from you." Sylvia had been staying in the hospital without leaving since surgery was completed for observation of the child's condition.
She thought Jasmine was going to talk about something related to the child but didn't expect her opening sentence would leave Sylvia stunned.
"Miss Andrews, my husband..." "What happened?" Sylvia looked at her strangely.
Could it be that old professor who went abroad for medical treatment is her husband? That would be too coincidental? She secretly thought in her heart.
"My husband is getting older these days. He has developed a brain tumor in recent years which is located in a relatively remote area. It is said that there will also be a fifty percent chance of dementia if he undergoes successful surgery... How could his brain become demented? He has done many useful researches... Dr. Sylvia, we heard you are an expert in this field." While speaking, Jasmine’s eyes were red with tears flowing down silently, "We met overseas before so we are considered predestined relationship, right? You..." Sylvia looked at them kindly when they were amiable elderly couple inside H Rovirsa restaurant before then she glanced back at Jasmine now looking haggardly helpless After all she wasn't an unfeeling person,"Is Mr. Morales staying in our hospital?" "Yes. He lives on 16th floor neurosurgery ward." Sylvia nodded then turned around and told Mr. Wong, "Mr. Wong, please pay more attention on bed 58's little patient as he just underwent surgery not long ago. If there are any abnormal situations, please report it immediately." After giving instructions, she followed Jasmine up onto 16th floor neurosurgery ward where Giancarlo sat holding book carefully observing from his bed near end corridor Upon hearing footsteps, he slowly lifted his head and saw a slender woman appear at the door of the hospital room. She was dressed in a white lab coat, looking elegant and beautiful.
"Miss Andrews?" Giancarlo exclaimed.
Jasmine quickly walked up. "Miss Andrews is actually the renowned doctor we've been searching for. It's such a small world." Giancarlo smiled and put down his book. "I never expected Miss Andrews to be so young and talented." He couldn't hide his surprise but hoped that Sylvia could perform surgery on him.
They came with hope, not wanting to leave with disappointment.
Sylvia didn't exchange pleasantries with them but went straight to examine Giancarlo's medical records in neurosurgery department.
"The condition of this elderly gentleman is not optimistic; the tumor has grown in an unfavorable location, making surgery extremely risky," she said without hesitation.
