Rowan’s POV For the past few days , my mind has been a complete mess . It was like if a switch in my head had been going on and off . One minute, | was Rowan , the next minute , | was Thorne , and two minutes after that , | was back to being Rowan .

After | found out Harriette’s real identity and why she was really in my pack , things went out of hand after that day for me . One thing | was grateful for was the fact that The King left the following morning

He didn’t get to witness the insanity he called a son .

Aside from leaving the pack behind because of the things that happened to me , there was also one more reason that wasn’t hidden from the people close to me .

My true nature ! If the people of the palace found out that | had two personalities , | would be locked up in a mental institution forever and that way , | wouldn't even dream of ever becoming a king .

The look on Harriette’s face tore my heart into pieces and almost made me choke. | quickly looked away from her just to stay sane.

| didn’t mean to hurt her. Shit! Fuck! | didn’t even want to hurt her. The look in her eyes made me doubt her intentions towards me for a minute.

It killed me to do that but | didn’t have a choice.

It was the best way to get rid of her without actually getting rid of her. | was supposed to arrest her, torture her, and imprison her the normal standard way but | couldn’t do that to her.

He doesn’t hate the fact that Harriette was here to kill me. In fact, it made him love and want her more, and not so secretly, he was rooting for her.

“You wanted to see me,” Alpha Darius asked before he went ahead to kiss his wife's forehead.

I shrugged. “Your wife must've misinterpreted my words. | said | was about to go see you. Who am | to call a first-rank Alpha into my office? I'm just a Rogue Alpha,” Alpha Darius snorted. “Yeah, aside from that, you're the future king. | might be first-rank Alpha but right above that order are you and your father,” It was my turn to snort. “I wouldn’t become the king even if my life depended on it,” “Your father said...” | interrupted him. “Talk him out of it. I'm never leaving this pack and neither am | becoming a stupid king,” | told him.

He nodded slowly, taking in all I'd said.

“Why am | here then?” “I'm being suffocated in my own pack by y'all presence. When are you leaving?” | asked.

He cocked his eyebrow, almost in disbelief at what | said.

“You're throwing us out of your pack,” he asked, wanting to be sure of my intentions.

| shrugged. “I didn’t say it like that but if you did, you're not totally wrong,” “Alpha Rowan!” He growled.

I smirked. | knew | was looking for trouble with the way | was handling things but my head wasn’t even in the right place for me to make the right decision.

“Like | said, I'm getting suffocated. When are you leaving?” As | asked again, Harriette let out a sound that finally broke me. It was a strangled, wrenching noise that seemed to express her heartbreak, as though she was fighting to hold back tears but a force beyond her control made the sound escape her.

If | didn’t know better, | would've presumed that Harriette wasn’t who | knew her to be. | would say she was truly hurt by what I said but no, that was probably a pretense.
