Minor disturbances in the banquet hall would never affect that many people, which was why Cordy’s
arrival did not affect anyone by much. Still, the crowd’s eyes would be drawn to her golden silhouette,
though they only allowed their eyes to linger for just a moment before turning away
At the moment, they would rather spend every second they had mingling with the rich and powerful
individuals present.
As for Cordy, she headed over to an inconspicuous corner and waited there. She recognized a couple
of faces, though she wondered if everyone who came today were not from North City since there were
plenty of people she did not recognize.
Naturally, that was not her priority either-she was keeping an eye out for Richard.
She certainly missed the boy after being apart for so long.
But as she scanned the crowd that was constantly on the move, a man’s voice she did not recognize
spoke beside her ear. “Cordy Sachs?”
Cordy turned toward the man. She found him familiar, but could not quite put a finger on where they
had met.

He had not expected Cordy to forget about him!
Still, he thought that might not really be the case-Cordy might just be pretending.
After all, women love to play hard-to-get, don’t they?
However, Cordy was still taken aback.
She still could not remember who Bryson was.
A business partner?
But she would always keep in mind every face whom she discussed business with, even if they had
met just once-no, even if the deal eventually fell through. Moreover, she would always make sufficient
preparations before meeting potential partners, so there was no way she would completely forget about
them.
Bryson saw then that she really could not remember, and he could hardly hide his rage. “Cordy Sachs!
I would agree that most men love women who play hard-to-get, but overdoing it would just make it
unsavory!”
Cordy was going to properly greet him in return.
She was thinking that since they were acquainted, she should at least be considerate since it was a
gesture of respect to the host as well.
But any relationship goes both ways, with no one obliged to tolerate anyone.
As such, she turned and started to leave.
“Cordy Sachs!”
Surprised that Cordy really thought nothing of him, Bryson promptly reached out and grabbed her
arm.
“Let me go if you don’t want to make a scene!” Cordy threatened him right then.
He did not expect to actually be allowed to take part in Levine Ventures’ anniversary celebration as one
of the employees, and he could not afford the responsibility of any mishaps here.
Reluctantly releasing Cordy, he said, “We met at the Sachs family mansion. Your father personally
introduced us.”
Cordy remembered right then-Bryson was the man Simon wanted her to marry.
Her refusal back then had been thorough, and she thought nothing of him since, which explained why

“Now you remember?” Bryson scoffed. “You’re really forgetful, aren’t you?”
“There’s no need to remember pointless people,” Cordy retorted, not holding back at all.
“You’re really pretentious, aren’t you?!” he snapped.
“Even so, that’s my own business. It has nothing to do with you, Mr. Zimmer,” she said and started to
leave again.
“Cordy Sachs! Don’t you know who I am?!” Bryson bellowed, not giving in and certainly not letting her
leave.
After meeting Cordy, he had told Simon several times that he liked her and would like to meet her
again.
But she never responded to his requests.
However, he had also been very busy every day since John’s return-John had really high
standards when it came to work.
As such, Bryson had to put things off until he finally saw her today.
He certainly would not let her go that easily now!
